After a year and a half grinding through the whole How to Train Your Dragon soundtrack, I thought I was too musically-spent to pick up arranging ever again – until I saw Rise of the Guardians (during exam time as well – how wonderful is that?)
Like many people, the film left me spellbound. But while most of them went on drooling over Jack Frost, I turned to the music. Although Alexandre Desplat’s score cannot rival HtTYD in epicness, he certainly created very memorable themes to go along with the wonderful storyline and characters. Plus, the piano carries a greater weight in this film, which makes me happy.
With an outburst of productivity, I arranged five of the following tracks in the course of four days – a new record. So, lesson learned: never give up believing!
Please note that the availability of these scores depends on DreamWorks’ decision over publishing official sheet music. Should that become the case, I’ll have to take these down so not to interfere with publisher sales.

P.S. Who else here was enough of a classical music geek to recognize Stravinsky’s Firebird in Santa’s first scene (when he plays with the train set), or pick out a hint of Enescu’s Romanian Rhapsody during the sleigh launch? Leave a comment below if you did!

I am so glad that I found this! Absolutely amazing! I, like you, looked to the music, and I love it, so I am thrilled to have found these arrangements! I hope you continue to arrange music. By the way, have you heard the music to Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium, also by Alexandre Desplat? I can not find that music anywhere for the life of me, and it is filled with great piano music! I’ve been dying to learn it.:)
This is really awesome! Thanks so much for sharing 🙂
Are any of the other songs for this soundtrack released yet?
These are the only ones I’ve arranged for RotG. Been working on other arrangement projects since 😉
Thank you so much for sharing this! I was so excited when I found it 🙂
